Making Improvements to your Synthesis Essay --- Revisions due by Wednesday, 10/26.
  • You may earn up to 10 points on your essay, based on the rubric below.

8-10 points:
  • All teacher-recommended changes made to essay
  • Student must also take initiative and improve the paper based on his/her own observations
  • Essay is a substantial improvement on previous draft
  • Essay demonstrates a significantly improved level of polish (i.e. no mechanical errors, awkward wording, errors in sentence structure, etc.)
  • Student must meet with teacher or writing center teacher at least 2 times

5-7 points:
  • All teacher-recommended changes made to essay
  • Essay is an improvement on the previous draft
  • Improved mechanics, sentence structure, word choice, etc.
  • Student must meet with teacher or writing center teacher at least 1 time

1-4 points:
  • Some recommended changes have been made
  • Essay shows minor improvement from previous draft
  • Several mechanical errors, errors in word choice or sentence structure still exist
  • Student must meet with teacher or writing center teacher at least 1 time
